Nitesh Ratnakar, M.D., FACG

Nitesh Ratnakar, M.D., FACG completed his training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Wisconsin Medical School where he also finished his training in advanced therapeutic endoscopy. Dr. Ratnakar completed a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Chicago Medical School. He graduated medical school from University of Delhi / Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, India. He has obtained board certification in Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. He has been awarded fellowship of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG). Dr. Ratnakar is the West Virginia Governor of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and is a member of the task force of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) on innovations in endoscopy. Dr. Ratnakar consults on all aspects of digestive and liver diseases and has a special interest in therapeutic endoscopy, pancreaticobiliary endoscopy, colon cancer screening, nonsurgical treatment of hemorrhoids and ablative therapy for Barrett’s esophagus. Dr. Ratnakar has special training and interest in Geriatric Medicine and provides expert care to seniors with digestive and liver diseases. Dr. Ratnakar has consulted on several high profile international patients from Russia, Africa, and India. Dr. Ratnakar is on the faculty at West Virginia University School of Medicine and West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. Outside of medicine, Dr. Ratnakar’s interests include tennis, traveling, flying and charitable work.

Daniel Shats, M.D., M.B.A.

Daniel Shats, M.D., M.B.A. was raised in Toronto, Canada where he pursued studies in economics and marketing prior to attending medical school at Ross University. Dr. Shats completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology & liver diseases at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Camden, NJ. Dr. Shats has a special interest in colonoscopy, polyp removal, advanced therapeutic ERCP and endoscopic management of bariatric surgery complications. A member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology, Dr. Shats boasts an adenoma detection rate of 45%. He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys spending free time with his wife and two young children. Dr. Shats is on the faculty at West Virginia School of Medicine.

George Goetz, M.D., Ph.D.

George Goetz, M.D., Ph.D. grew up in South Bend, IN and received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Brown University in Providence, RI in 1981. He moved to New York City where he received his MD degree, as well as a doctorate in molecular biology from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1989. He then completed internship and residency in internal medicine at Indiana University and Washington University in St. Louis, MO. His fellowship in gastroenterology was completed at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Goetz was a faculty member of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock before joining a gastroenterology group in Indianapolis in 2000. Dr. Goetz practices all aspects of gastroenterology and hepatology and has a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease and infectious diarrhea. He is a member of the American College of Physicians (ACP), the American Gastoenterological Association (AGA) and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, canoeing and other outdoor activities. Dr. Goetz is on the faculty at West Virginia School of Medicine.

Sam Nassar, M.D.

Sam Nassar, M.D. completed his M.D. at Damascus University Medical School. He completed his Internship and Residency training at Case Western University Hospitals. He finished his fellowship training at Allegheny Health System, Pittsburgh. He has privileges at Trinity Health System and WVU – Reynolds Memorial Hospital. He has office locations in Saint Clairsville, Steubenville, Glendale, Wheeling Pittsburgh, and Canton. Dr. Nassar and his wife have lived in the Ohio Valley for over 25 years.

Michelle Ratnakar, PA-C

Michelle Ratnakar, PA-C was raised in Harman,WV. She graduated from Harman High School in 1992. She earned her Physician Assistant degree from Alderson Broaddus College in Philippi, WV. She has practiced medicine for the last 23 years, including 14 years in Gastroenterology & Hepatology in Central West Virginia. She is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG). In her free time she enjoys cooking, tennis and spending time with her husband and children. She sees patients in Elkins, WV. She has hospital privileges at Davis Medical Center..

Taylor McDonald, FNP-C

Brandie Metheny, FNP-BC was born and raised in Elkins, WV. She graduated from Forest Hills High School in 1994 then went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Alderson Broaddus College in 1998. Brandie practiced Med-Surg and Trauma Nursing for eight years. In 2006 she earned her Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on Family Nurse Practitioner from Wheeling Jesuit University. She has been in clinical practice for the last 13 years. Brandie enjoys traveling, listening to her daughter, Gracie, sing and perform, and spending time with her family and friends. Brandie sees patients in Elkins and Buckhannon, WV.

Tiffany Car, FNP-BC

Tiffany Carr, FNP-BC was born and raised in Elkins, WV. She graduated from Elkins High School. While practicing as a Home Health nurse for 5 years she continued her education earning a Masters degree in nursing with focus on Family Nurse Practitioner in 2019. She enjoys her dogs and cats, crafting, reading and spending time with her fiance Tyler and family. She sees patients in Elkins, WV and Buckhannon, WV. She has privileges at Davis Medical Center.
